"The RGS President's 'Address' at the Annual General
Meeting (held 18 October 1937) made mention of GBP100.00
also bequeathed to the Society by Covington. Covington was
elected Fellow of the RGS after June 1912, lived in Norwood
(southeast London), and died there 22 November 1935. There
is no indication - either on the bust, or in correspondence
with the Covington family and their executors in our
Archives - of its maker, date, or ealier provenance. There
is only a number (5594) engraved into the 'marble' base; the
base is attached to the bust by two screws." (Francis
