1901 Donald Guthrie McNab
Alledged portrait of Marquette found by McNab in 1896 : 1896 McNab. "As far as is known this is the only portrait of Marquette in existence [see 1896 McNab], and we have to thank Mr. McNab for the privilege of reproducing it for the first time in this form for the benefit of Ontario Historical Society members. We are also deeply obliged to him for his generous offer to present the Society with an oil copy, by himself [photo on the right], of this extremely valuable portrait which, but for his thoughfulness and skill, would not now be in existence." Boyle 1901 (web). See also 1901 David Boyle. |
Grande image : 1000x1569 pixels ou 2445x3836 pixels. Donald Guthrie McNab, copy of Father Marquette portrait that he "found" in 1896 (see 1896 McNab), given to the Ontario Historical Society in 1901, present location unknown. Scan : collaboration of Judith Logan. Kenney 1925, p. 142, refers to ROM-AR 1886-1928 (1916 volume) and states that the above reproduction "is from a copy of the alledged portrait of Marquette, made by McNab and presented to the Ontario Historical Society." |
